Participation in clinical activities is a mandatory component of Health Science programs. 根据临床附属机构的要求, students meeting one or more of the following conditions are prohibited from taking part in clinical activities:

Convictions falling outside the scope of the above will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The decision ultimately depends on the student being accepted by a clinical affiliate.
It is strongly suggested that students with pending charges not start a program 直到 their case is resolved. 学生 who choose not to follow this advice enter at the risk of losing all resources, 财政和其他方面, 在程序中消耗. 收费解决后, the student has three (3) business days in which to notify the Program Director or Dean of 健康科学 of the outcome. A decision will then be made as to whether or not the student is eligible to continue in clinical activities.

学生 in the process of readmission to a program are required to undergo a new background check to verify eligibility. Please meet with the directors of specific programs for further information.
If a student feels an error has been made on his/her background check, he/she should contact Verified Credentials directly by calling Client Services at 800-938-6090 to resolve the dispute.
If the background check results are accurate but the student wishes to appeal the ruling made as to his/her eligibility for participation in clinical activities, he/she should contact the Dean of 健康科学 to request a review of his/her status.

学生 enrolling in a program within the 健康科学 Division must provide Gadsden State with the required healthcare data after admission 到程序中. Clinical agencies mandate that students provide information regarding their current health status – which includes an annual physical, immunizations record and essential functions review – that may affect the safety of the student or the client in clinical settings. 学生 who do not have documentation of immunizations must have blood drawn to see if they are immune.

学生 in the 健康科学 must also demonstrate proof of health insurance. 学生 without proof of insurance will not be allowed to attend clinicals.

Each student has a personal obligation to practice health-conscious behaviors intended to foster clear and rational decision-making as well as the ability to function in a safe and therapeutic manner throughout the various programs of student within the 健康科学 Division. Chemical dependence is recognized as a disease at Gadsden State, and it is believed that public safety requires regulation of behavior in addition to treatment for the disease.
The 健康科学 Division supports a policy that requires individuals providing patient care in a clinical setting or preparing educationally to become a care provider adheres to high personal health standards. This includes avoiding mind- and behavior-altering substances.
Gadsden State’s substance abuse policy states that students are subject to pre-clinical testing and random testing while enrolled at Gadsden State. 学生 do not have to submit to a drug screening 直到 后 they are accepted into a program within the 健康科学 Division. It must be completed prior to participating in clinical courses. The substance abuse policy and more details about the drug screening will be reviewed with accepted students at orientation.
